Kybella™

Kybella™ is the newest FDA-approved injectable used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called, “double chin.”

The active ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

A numbing cream is applied in the fatty part of the chin to be treated. Because there are nerves and muscles around the target area under the chin, it is important to have a board-certified physician trained in the use of Kybella to administer the treatment.

Dr. Bukachevsky and you, the patient, will decide how many treatments are needed. Once the desired aesthetic response is achieved with Kybella™, retreatment is not expected.

The most common side effects of KYBELLA™ include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area, lasting from a few days to a month.
